North I-25 Fiber Optic Backbone Design
Apex staff members served as an extension of CDOT’s staff at the Colorado Transportation Management Center to deploy projects across the state. Most notable, our team designed a fiber optic interconnect backbone spanning 76 miles along Interstate 25 from Denver to the Wyoming border. The design includes connectivity to local agencies along the corridor as well as to the traffic devices such as signals, cameras and variable message signs while addressing right-of-way constraints, utilities and structure crossings. This project is unique because it will be CDOT’s first Ethernet-based fiber optic system. The design encompasses many aspects of ITS including equipment design, communications, and network architecture. Our staff worked closely with local agencies to reflect their ITS needs in our design. |
