High Plains Highway Corridor Management Plan

Apex Design conducted the CDOT Region 1 and 4 United States Highways 40 and 385 ITS Corridor Development Plan. This high-level conceptual ITS planning study incorporated existing devices, such as Road and Weather Information Systems (RWIS), Variable Message Signs (VMS), a Flood Warning System, and Ports of Entry to provide real-time traveler information to the road users. The ITS plan identified future infrastructure to be integrated with existing devices to enhance incident management plans and traveler information capabilities. Our staff’s experience with the statewide ITS system will ensure that the High Plains Highway Corridor Development Plan reflects the overall vision of ITS in Colorado.
